The University of Alabama proudly supports and celebrates the research and creative activity of its distinguished faculty. While scholarly and creative work can take many forms (including articles, conference presentations, performances, and exhibitions), this particular website –facultybooks.ua.edu–is dedicated to celebrating the books published by our faculty.

The many books written by UA’s faculty demonstrate the national and international standing of our faculty in their respective fields. Each book plays a role in stimulating and developing the conversation in many fields of study. Furthermore, these books often form the basis (or are the outcome) of a faculty member’s particular area of teaching expertise. The books written by our faculty and the faculty’s classroom teaching experiences go hand in hand.

Students – undergraduate and graduate – come to the University of Alabama to study with the best and brightest faculty, and the books produced by our faculty are decisive in establishing a national and international reputation. By virtue of being a leading authority in a particular discipline, our faculty possess the expertise required to mentor outstanding students – from freshmen to doctoral students – and show them the pleasures and challenges involved in research, writing, editing, and translating.
